Penticton Scottish Festival has something for everyone

Penticton plays host to the second annual Penticton Scottish Festival and Highland Games on July 4.

PENTICTON - If you enjoy everything Scottish, from kilts to haggis and tartan to bagpipes, then the Scottish Festival in Penticton could be right up your alley.

While haggis may not actually be on the menu, the Second Annual Penticton Scottish Festival and Highland Games will celebrate Celtic culture with a variety of Scottish oriented events. The Penticton Highland Games, part of a highland games circuit that extends through B.C., Alberta and the Northwest U.S., is traditionally held on the first weekend in July.

Whether you're Scottish or not, the event promises some unique entertainment and fun. Bagpiping, drumming, highland dancing and heavy events competitions will be included along with Celtic entertainment that includes children’s activities and clan information. There will also be clothing, equipment and food vendors with opportunities for tastings.

With the event set to take place Saturday, July 4, organizers are anticipating approximately 3,000 people will attend the games this year.
