The annual Penticton Rotary Ribfest is no more and will be replaced by SummerCamp Rib & Music Fest featuring tunes, games and food this summer.

The Festival Company and The Narrow Group are behind the new Rib & Music Festival which will run from Sept 13 to 15 at Okanagan Lake Park in Penticton for the first time this year.

Penticton Rotary had previously announced on its website that Penticton Ribfest would be “taking a break."

“I know how much RibFest meant to the area,” Billie Jo Aasen with The Festival Company said in a media release issued today, May 21. “We’re thrilled to keep it alive with a new festival that’s perfect for adults, kids and the whole family.”

The three-day festival will include “adult-sized summer games” with tug of war, water fights and giant bevy pong along with a Kid Zone with games like Tropical Bounce, Safari Run, Surfs Up and an Extreme Obstacle Course.

The music festival will focus on 1980s and 1990s classics with DJs, the organizers said. Plans also include a vendor market and beer garden.

While there isn’t an admission charge, tickets will be required and can be downloaded here.
