PENTICTON - The City of Penticton has found an interim operator for Skaha Lake Marina.
The City recently issued a request for proposals to find an operator for the facility for the next two years, with an optional extension of a third year, to allow time for the completion of the master plan for Skaha Lake Park.
Randy and Karen Gallagher received the highest score from the four submissions received, according to a City of Penticton media release.
The Gallaghers are long term residents with roots in the community, the City says, and they support not-for-profit groups through their Widbit Waterpark business.
“We are excited to begin working on immediate upgrades and amenities to the marina, including a valet and storage for marine vessels, a non-licensed coffee bistro, boat rentals, surf and charter service and infrastructure improvements,” Randy Gallagher says in the release.
“We look forward to seeing Skaha Marina in operation this year," the City's director of development services Anthony Haddad said in the release. "The proposal submitted provides for quality short-term investment into the facility.”
The City says existing marina slip holders should contact the new operators to secure space for 2019 by email at info@skahalakemarina.net.
