PENTICTON - A Penticton retailer's entire staff are the latest contributors to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundations’ hospital campaign.
Penticton Walmart’s 300 store employees are directing $30,000 over four years to the foundation’s campaign.
Store manager Rory Williams announced a donation of $18,000 now, with a further $12,000 coming over the next three years. He said discussions with the employees revealed the hospital campaign to be one of the local charities most important to them.
The employees have raised the funds through staff barbecues and other events. Part of the donation was matched by Walmart Canada’s head office.
Williams gives all the credit for the donation to the store employees.
“They raised that money and it was important to them that it stays in their community,” he says.
