Penticton RCMP seize sawed-off shotgun in motel room search

Penticton RCMP executed a search warrant on a motel unit at Lakeside Villa Inn & Suites last week and found a man in possession of prohibited weapons.

PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP executed a search warrant at a motel room at the Lakeside Villa Inn and Suites on Skaha Lake Road last week.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police found numerous pieces of stolen mail, a small amount of methamphetamine, a loaded shotgun, brass knuckles and bear spray in the room during the search on Friday, Jan. 20.

Jonathan Daniel Haller made a court appearance Jan. 23,  facing seven charges, including possession of a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles), careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon without a license and possession of a loaded firearm, according to court documents.

Haller is also charged with mail theft under $5,000.
