Emergency crews were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision with a power pole on Naramata Road earlier today.

RCMP along with members of the Naramata Fire Department arrived on scene around 2:30 a.m. today, Jan. 30, in the 2000 block of Naramata Road.

Upon arrival, they learned from witnesses a small vehicle had been seen up against a power pole before it reversed and continued driving towards Penticton, according to an RCMP media release.

Many residents were without power as a result of the collision, which required FortisBC crews to assist in repairing the damage.

Police spokesperson Const. James Grandy says police are seeking the identity of the driver, and the vehicle, which they believe was a small Ford.

Anyone with information about the collision or who the driver might be are asked to contact the RCMP at 250-492-4200, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
