The Penticton RCMP is appealing to the public for help in identifying a suspect in connection with a sexual assault after a woman was grabbed while walking in the city late in the evening.

According to a Penticton RCMP media release at around 10:30 p.m. Dec. 3, a woman was approached by an unknown male while walking near Granby Avenue and Atkinson Street.

The man blocked her path and grabbed her hand and pulled her into a secluded pedestrian path near Weyburn Street. The man attempted to kiss her, however, she managed to get away and called the police.

At one point during the incident, the man identified himself as "Adam."

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a dark tan, six feet tall with a slim muscular build, between 20 and 30 years of age. He has dark eyes and short light brown hair with a short ponytail at the centre of his head.

The RCMP is asking the public for help in identifying a man captured on video surveillance. Police say he is a person of interest believed to have been in the area at the time and want to speak to him.

Anyone with information should contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300, and reference file number 2020-20531.
