PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are investigating a break and enter during which $250,000 worth of property was taken from a storage lot.
Sometime between July 20 and 22, a suspect or suspects are believed to have broken into a secure storage compound located at 2723 Green Mountain Rd., according to an RCMP media release.
Police believe the lot was entered over the weekend and several unique and expensive items consisting of lighting equipment used in the motion picture industry was taken.
A neighbour alerted the property owner, who did not reside on the premises, after finding the gate had been left open.
As the owner was confirming the theft, he observed a large pickup truck nearby. The vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed when he turned on his headlights, but he was able to note the license plate.
Police later found the truck parked in Okanagan Falls, empty of occupants and property. The truck has been seized as part of the investigation.
Several black tote boxes with yellow lids were taken, in addition to red lighting gear, power supplies, LED boards, DMX four channels, an ATM machine and a drop safe.
