PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP’s Targeted Enforcement Unit has apprehended a man wanted on several outstanding warrants.
Lawrence Jordan Brown, 28, was spotted by members of the RCMP’s targeted enforcement unit while driving a vehicle on Green Mountain Road on June 11 around 4:30 p.m.
The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed as police attempted to pull it over, but police, with assistance from general duty, police services, southeast traffic and Summerland RCMP were able to intercept the vehicle and slow it down by deploying a spike belt.
Brown was arrested immediately but the driver fled on foot before being apprehended a short time later.
Superintendent Ted De Jager said in a press release issued today, June 12, he was proud of the work done by the Penticton detachment.
"In trying to apprehend Brown, we’ve expended enormous resources. These prolific offenders are responsible for over 80 percent of the crime in our community. These offenders are seldom related with the social issues we see in the downtown cores of our communities, but are committed to a criminal lifestyle, that drives crime in our communities. Every patrol watch, our TEU, CSET and even the force plane from Kelowna, were dedicated to removing this individual from our streets, after an extensive crime spree from Kelowna to Keremeos,” De Jager said.
