Penticton police are appealing to the public — and two people in particular — who might have witnessed an assault.
The complainant in the case told police that an elderly couple witnessed the crime but did not remain at the scene.
It happened on New Years Eve – Dec. 31, 2022 – between 4 and 5 p.m. on the Skaha Lake Park walkway, according to a release from the Penticton RCMP.
“The incident began with an argument and escalated into an assault, and the victim suffered a broken bone as a result,” Const. Dayne Lyons said in the release.
“Since this beachfront is so popular, we are confident someone had to have seen something.”
An elderly couple came forward to say they witnessed the incident. However it was not reported to police until Jan. 29.
“We hope that this couple may see this news release and come forward to police.”
