PENTICTON - Police are investigating two assaults that took place in Penticton last week.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a 17-year-old man was looking at his phone while walking on the bike path near KVR Middle School on Thursday, June 15 at around 10 p.m. when he was jumped by four or five assailants.

The teenager suffered injuries to his eye and ear.

“The assault appears to be completely random,” Wrigglesworth says. The victim didn't know the suspects.

Police are looking for witnesses or video of the incident.

Wrigglesworth says on Saturday, June 17, several young people were bearsprayed by another youth at about 3 a.m. near Main Street and White Avenue.

The three 19-year-old victims were uncooperative with investigators.

RCMP have identified the suspect.

Wrigglesworth says he is a 15-year-old male who is well known to police. No word if any charges will be laid.
