A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Penticton yesterday.

Penticton RCMP were called to the 700 block of Main Street around 6 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 12, after a man was struck by a passing vehicle.

Witnesses told police the man had suddenly walked into the street, possibly in an attempt to cross the road, when he was struck, sustaining serious injuries, according to an RCMP media release.

Emergency medical services took the man to hospital, where he is reported to be in critical condition.

“Police want to remind the public to always try and use a crosswalk and make certain cars have stopped prior to stepping into traffic,” Const. James Grandy said in the release.

Police continue to investigate the incident.

Anyone witnessing the collision who have not already spoken to police are asked to contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
