It took a Pentictonite three days for reality to hit him after winning a $100,000 Lotto 6/49 prize.

Steven Wilson won with the ticket he purchased for Dec. 23, 2023, Lotto 6/49 draw but didn't check his ticket until later, according to a BC Lottery Corporation news release issued today, Jan. 31.

“Once I found out I won, it took three days to sink in,” he said in the release.

It's at a local 7-Eleven that he remembered to check his month-old ticket and found out he had just become $100,000 richer.

“Holy moly no way,” he said when he found out he had won. “I didn’t have my glasses on when I scanned the ticket. I just saw a lot of zeroes and had to have the clerk check for me.”

Upon finding out the news, Wilson shared it with his partner and kids who were all "very excited" for him.

He said his winnings will allow him to expand his real estate portfolio, take a "nice long vacation" to Italy and he'll give some of the money to his kids.

Wilson's winning ticket was purchased at Walmart on Green Avenue West in Penticton.
