A single-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in the South Okanagan has claimed the life of a 75-year-old Penticton man.

Oliver RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Vaseux Lake yesterday, Oct. 24, around 3 p.m.

It is believed the vehicle, a silver-coloured Honda Pilot was travelling northbound when it veered off the road and hit a rock face, according to an RCMP media release.

“Sadly, the driver and sole occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene,” RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in the release.

The RCMP will not be releasing the identity of the deceased and have no further information to offer.

Any witnesses to the collision who haven’t yet spoken to police are asked to contact Cpl. Tyrone Wilton of the RCMP South Traffic Service at 250-499-2250.
