The Penticton Ironman still expects to hold the event this year, but will postpone the event until September.
Race officials said in a press release the 2021 Subaru Ironman Canada race will be postponed to Sept. 26 from Aug. 29.
The move comes following consultation with regional and local health authorities.
“We collectively agree that this event will be better positioned to take place on this race date. Our team will continue to work hard developing and refining operational plans in a manner consistent with local community objectives and within the guidelines and recommendations set by public health entities as it relates to COVID-19,” the statement says.
Ironman safe return to racing guidelines will be updated as policies are refined and can be viewed here.
Registered athletes will be receiving an email with more information.
The race was cancelled due to COVID-19 last year.
