PENTICTON - Local growers have produce such as spring kale, lettuce and eggs, and they are looking for consumers so the Penticton Farmers' Market will open on Saturday, April 23.

“We’ve got a full complement of vendors for opening day. I’m excited,” market manager Erin Trainer says, adding vendors will include farmers, craftsmen, prepared foods and wineries.

The market will run every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the 100- block of Main Street until October 29.

The market may be dodging some of the reconstruction work currently underway on Main Street in the 200-block, but Trainer is hopeful most of the work will be complete.

“The city was hoping to have the work done, but it was delayed a bit. Our fingers are crossed it will be done by next week,” she says.

Meanwhile, the Penticton Farmers' Market was named 2015 medium-sized Farm Market of the Year by the B.C. Association of Farmers' Markets.
