PENTICTON - A new building is opening in Penticton that will create 40 new rental units in the downtown core.
The project, which is a partnership between the province, the City of Penticton and the Penticton and District Society for Community Living, is a four-storey apartment building with rents based on household income and range from $650 for a one-bedroom unit to $1,450 for a two-bedroom unit, according to a B.C. government media release.
The apartment complex is located at 259 Backstreet Boulevard and tenants are expected to begin moving in this month.
The building will be operated by the Penticton and District Society for Community Living.
“Today marks another step forward in supplying affordable housing for our residents. I am pleased to see this project completed and these new units made available, including the multi-room units specifically designed to meet the needs of families, an area of our affordable housing market that remains underserved,” Penticton Mayor John Vassilaki said in the release.
