PENTICTON - Penticton City Council is sending a collective wish for success to a local skier as she prepares to compete in  the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Korea.

Council delivered the wishes for success in a city issued press release for freestyle mogul skier Andi Naude.

“It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to represent your country on a world stage. We are all very proud of Andi as she pursues her dream to compete at the Winter Olympics in Korea. She has been an inspiration for local aspiring freestyle mogul skiers and we will be watching her with great interest. We wish Andi success in the weeks ahead,” Mayor Andrew Jakubeit said.

Naude grew up in Penticton and learned to ski at Apex Mountain Resort. Her strong passion for skiing saw her qualifying for the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team at the age of 16.

Naude will join the rest of the Canadian Olympic Mogul Ski Team at Apex Mountain Resort when they participate in the pre-Olympic training camp between Jan. 25 and Jan.31.

The Olympic freestyle mogul skiing qualifications begin Feb.9 at 10 a.m., with finals taking place Feb.11 starting at 7:30 p.m.
