Penticton cab driver robbed and assaulted

Penticton RCMP arrested and charged Tyler Lemire after finding him near a taxi reported stolen on March 15, 2020, around 11:30 p.m.,

Penticton RCMP arrested a man following an alleged taxi robbery in the city.

The driver of a local taxi called police on March 15 around 11:30 p.m. to report he had been assaulted by a man, who then stole the taxi.

The incident occurred near Skaha Lake Road and Green Avenue West, where the cab driver had been parked.

Police accompanied by police dog service officers found the cab a few blocks from where the incident occurred.

A man who has been identified as Tyler Lemire, 34, was found nearby.

Lemire had evidence of the robbery on his person and he was arrested.

Lemire appeared in court yesterday, March 16 where he faced charges of robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000 and assault.
