If all goes as planned, Okanagan Virtual Golf will open its doors this weekend on Saturday Nov. 4, on 310 Main Street, Penticton.

Although similar venues exist in Kelowna and Vernon, this is a unique experience coming to Penticton. According to co-owner Andrew Baron, the course has already received plenty of positive feedback, before doors have even opened.

Baron told iNFOnews.ca all ages and abilities are welcome to enjoy the venue’s three simulator bays, which each offer more than 400 courses to play on.

“We’re calling ourselves a virtual golf lounge,” Baron said. “We’re good for all the public and welcome kids to adults to parties to events, anything like that.”

Golfers will use a real club and ball, making the simulation as close to reality as possible.

Kids will have access to “mini putt games” while advanced players can book training days to brush up on their skills over the winter.

“One of our bays (is) a training bay for our coaches and our pros, so they'll be running lessons out of there during the day,” co-owner Cole Marchant said.

The owners also said they are working on a liquor license, which should come into effect by March next year.

The venue will also host league tournaments, which have proven very popular with locals already.

“We call them winter leagues, which runs from 5 to 10, Monday to Thursday,” Baron said. “You pick a time slot and a day that works for you and you play at the same time every week.”

Bookings for league tournaments are already 75% full, Baron said.

“Outside of that we have open tee times like any normal golf course where the public can come in and play in one-hour increments,” he said.

Marchant said the hourly rate for a four-person session will be $60.
