A pedestrian hit by a pickup truck in a marked crosswalk in Osoyoos on Sunday is in stable condition in hospital.

RCMP say a 26-year-old man was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital after he was struck at around 9:45 a.m., July 4, in the 7500 block of Highway 3 in Osoyoos.

The driver for a Ford Ranger pickup failed to stop, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP have ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors as the investigation continues.

“Although his injuries were quite severe, the victim is stable in hospital,” RCMP spokesperson Const. Jame Grandy said in the release.

If you witnessed this incident, or have any other information, you’re asked to call the Osoyoos RCMP at 250-495-7236.
