A 23-year-old pedestrian was hit in North Kamloops yesterday afternoon after communication confusion by one driver on the road.

A Kamloops woman sustained minor leg injuries after being hit by a GMC Jimmy truck while crossing Tranquille Avenue at Yew Street yesterday at about 1:30 p.m.

The 47-year old driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and described the communication mixup to RCMP.

He told them that he saw a vehicle stop and wave, and thought the message was intended for him. The wave, however, was intended for the pedestrian and as he waved back in good courtesy, he hit the woman.

The woman was assessed by paramedics and declined a visit to Royal Inland Hospital.

RCMP are awaiting witness statements. No charges have been laid as of yet.
