Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in Vernon

A person has died after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 97 in Vernon.

Emergency crews were on scene yesterday, Aug. 14 after a pedestrian was struck while jaywalking near the Highway 97 and 30th Ave intersection in Vernon, according to the RCMP in a news release.

The person died as a result of their injuries.

The highway was temporarily closed at roughly 3:43 p.m. when the incident occurred. 

RCMP Collision Analysts and the BC Coroners Service were on scene, according to the news release.

The investigation is ongoing.
