Pedestrian Crossing Over McDougall Creek Closed

The foot crossing over McDougall Creek will be closed intermittently between the work hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. beginning Monday, August 28, 2017 and continuing for at least one week.

The closures are required for safety reasons while demolition occurs on the adjacent sidewalk and surrounding infrastructure.

The contractor will try to minimize the length of the closures during work hours; and the pedestrian bridge will remain open during non-working hours.

Replacement of Shannon Lake Road Bridge over McDougall Creek is necessary due to the age of the structure and to increase load-bearing capabilities for emergency vehicles.

Shannon Lake Road remains fully closed to motorists at the bridge. Motorists and cyclists can use Old Okanagan Highway to access Highway 97 during the closure, which is expected to continue into October. The City of West Kelowna thanks everyone for their patience and understanding while this essential infrastructure work is being completed within the feasibly shortest, safest time possible.
