PEACHLAND - The Duck and Pug Guesthouse has been purchased by the District of Peachland for $675,000.

The purchase means Peachland residents will be able to enjoy four kilometres of unobstructed beachfront, according to a media release from the District.

“For almost 60 years, Peachland’s elected officials have made it a priority to preserve and improve Peachland’s shoreline,” Peachland mayor Cindy Fortin says in the release. “Now we have another opportunity to add to that legacy, for current and future generations to enjoy.”

The Duck and Pug Guesthouse was the last remaining privately owned lakefront property on Beach Avenue from the south end of Highway 97 to the north end of Buchannan Road.

The property will be used for park purposes, the release says. The guesthouse will continue to operate until September 30, 2017.
