Peachland's arts council was heartbroken this summer when an ageing mural six members spent 178 hours restoring was destroyed by vandals.
Now, however, their spirits have been buoyed knowing that not all of their hard work was for naught.
"We’re now at the stage where a lot of the paint has been scrubbed off," said a member of the council. "We will have to wait until spring to repaint and then put on an anti-graffiti coating — we were going to do it sooner but the weather turned on us."
In the meantime, RCMP are still looking for more information on who caused the damage and Crime Stoppers posted a call for tips today, Nov. 14.
"Some residents of Peachland were devastated on finding a beloved mural defaced during the weekend of Oct. 19 to 20," the Crime Stoppers report reads.
"Vandals used black spray paint and randomly sprayed the entire wall. The mural, painted on a concrete wall across from the marina restaurant, was commissioned by the Peachland Rotary Club about 20 years and had just been given a complete facelift this summer."
