SUV crashes through wall in Peachland, B.C., injuring 6, 1 critically

PEACHLAND, B.C. - Six people are hurt, one critically, after an SUV smashed through the wall of the public library in Peachland, B.C.

RCMP Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says it happened at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the small community south of West Kelowna.

He says a man in his 40s was inside the library and has life-threatening injuries, a second person is in serious condition and three more were hit by flying debris but are expected to recover.

The 71-year-old woman driving the BMW X3 was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

A cause of the crash is under investigation.

O'Donaghey says officers are still speaking to victims and witnesses and are also awaiting results of a mechanical inspection of the SUV. (CKFR)
