KAMLOOPS - The number of travellers using Fulton Field continues to climb monthly as the airport aims for another record year.
In September, nearly 25,000 travellers came through the gates of Kamloops Airport, up from just over 23,000 in September 2014. That brings the year-to-date numbers up to more than 238,000 this year, a 2.5 per cent increase over the first nine months of 2014.
Toursim travel lead the way last month, thanks to the lower Canadian dollar, Airport Manager Fred Legace says in a media release. He also notes all routes are doing well and contributing to the increase in travellers to and from Kamloops.
Commercial aircraft movements are also up for September, with new air cargo flights being made for package delivery companies.
In addition to the increase in travellers, the airport is celebrating the completion of the reconstruction of 6,000 feet of runway, which was completed on time and on budget.
