OTTAWA - Parliament Hill will be buzzing more than usual today.
Sure, there'll be talk about Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau's decision to remove Liberal senators from his party's caucus.
But the House of Commons agriculture committee will also hear about the importance of bees to Canada's food system.
Industries involved in the development of the F-35 fighter jet will also conduct an online fly-by of sorts, in a webcast touting the economic benefits of the Joint Strike Fighter.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper will meet with leaders from Canada's Ukrainian community to discuss the evolving situation in the Ukraine and Canada's response to it.
And Gov. Gen. David Johnston will walk on (frozen) water as he drops the puck at the inaugural Canal Classic hockey game, where parliamentarians will face off against members of the media on the Rideau Canal.
Other happenings planned for today on and around Parliament Hill include:
— The Supreme Court of Canada renders a decision in the pension battle between telecommunications and technical workers and Manitoba Telecom Service Inc. The high court will also render decisions in various leave to appeal applications.
— Health Minister Rona Ambrose will speak to the Economic Club of Canada about the cost of health care and the need to innovate the medicare system.
— Sports Minister Bal Gosal speaks at the Canadian Sport for Life National Summit.
— Public Sector Integrity Commissioner Mario Dion will hold a teleconference to discuss a Case Report on wrongdoing.
— Michele Audette, president of the Native Women's Association of Canada, will speak at a Commons committee about violence against Indigenous women.
— And French ambassador Philippe Zeller will honour writer-filmmaker Jean-Daniel Lafond by bestowing the title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
