WEST KELOWNA - West Kelowna, partnering with the Social Planning and Research Council of BC (SPARC BC), is making parking permits for West Kelowna residents with disabilities easier to obtain.

The City will now facilitate the application and issuing process for parking permits for people with disabilities. Any West Kelowna resident with mobility limitations who wishes to apply for a parking permit may obtain an application form online here, pick one up at City Hall or request one be mailed to you.

Applicants are asked to complete the form in its entirety and have their physician complete Section 2 of the form. Both the applicant and their doctor must sign the application. A completed application accompanied by the processing fee (currently $23) can be brought into City Hall and processed by staff immediately under most circumstances. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, cheque or debit.

Disabled persons parking permits are available on a temporary (up to one year) basis for short term disabilities and on a permanent basis (initial permit is valid for three years and may be renewed for a further three years without having to access your doctor). All renewals in this program are managed by SPARC BC which will send out renewal forms as required.

For more information on the program, please visit the SPARC BC website or call the City of West Kelowna at 778-797-2220.
