The parents of a missing 22-year-old Kamloops man are searching far and wide since he disappeared last week.

Jakob Gibbon was last seen at his residence in Kamloops on Dec. 28, RCMP said.

“There are so many out searching, even people I don’t know,” his step-mother Sharon Bignell said. “We have scoured every area we can think of.”

Bignell said his phone last pinged at the cell tower on top of the Northbridge Hotel at 377 Tranquille Rd. on Dec. 29, although Gibbon was not staying there.

She said Gibbon’s disappearance is out of character.

He hasn't shown up for work at a local veneer plant.

“He's a hardworking man who loves his work and family,” his dad Doug Gibbons said.

They've been estranged from their son for personal family reasons, but rushed to Kamloops from their home in Alberta to search. His step-mom will have to return to Alberta soon for surgery, but his dad will be continue the search for his son.

“We are physically tired but we are not concentrating on us,” Bignell said. “It is all hour by hour, and minute by minute right now.”

Doug is putting flyers up around town tomorrow and the pair plans to phone the hospital for any further information or clues to Jakob’s whereabouts.

The couple is asking the public to keep their eyes open for signs of Jakob and his car, a white Dodge Avenger, which is also missing.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts are asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
