Richmond-based airline Pacific Coastal Airlines is going to offer flights between Vancouver and Kamloops.
The flights will be offered six days a week between Sunday and Friday in a 19 passenger Beech 1900D turboprop plane, according to a Pacific Coastal Airlines media release.
“We want to ensure that the community of Kamloops maintains air service to Vancouver to support the movement of essential workers, time-sensitive cargo, and assist those travelling for medical appointments at this time," Pacific Coastal vice president of commercial services Jonathan Richardson said in the release.
"I encourage local residents to make use of this important connection to Vancouver for all their essential travel needs during this pandemic period and beyond," Mayor Ken Christian said in the release.
The airline's move comes after recent announcements that both Air Canada and Central Mountain Air have suspended their regular flights at YKA. Central Mountain Air has announced they plan to begin flights between Vancouver Kamloops again in April.
WestJet continues to schedule flights in and out of YKA, but Vancouver flights must connect in Calgary.
Last week, Pacific Coastal also began regularly scheduled flights between Penticton and Vancouver.
One-way ticket prices start at $150 per passenger, and they've adopted additional safety measures aside from their mandatory mask policy which you can read here.
