Owner of property dumped in Lake Country comes forward

KELOWNA - A cozy family portrait may have been the key to an Okanagan family being reunited with their stolen property.

A Coldstream resident contacted the Lake Country RCMP detachment less than an hour after police turned to the media for their help to find the owner of property dumped in a Lake Country neighbourhood. Mounties had included a photo of the family and another of the property found at the dumpsite.

The Coldstream resident has now been identified by police as the rightful owner of the items found on July 2,  Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said in a press release.

Both the investigator and complainant’s suspicions were right, the property which contained children’s items had been dumped from a stolen vehicle.

That Ford SUV had been reported to North Okanagan RCMP as taken sometime overnight. The stolen vehicle has since been recovered by RCMP in the North Okanagan and remains part of their ongoing investigation.
