KELOWNA – Thousands of dollars in used tires were stolen from a Kelowna car dealership last night.

“Police have determined that the unknown suspect or suspects cut a fence to gain entry to the commercial property, where they proceeded to breach a steel shipping container and steal multiple sets of various models of used tires from within,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release.

RCMP received the report from a dealership in the 2500 block of Enterprise Way early this morning, Jan. 12. O’Donaghey says the break and enter happened sometime overnight.

“Investigators believe that a vehicle was used in the crime, as police discovered that the locks used to secure the vehicle barriers, which lead to the recreational trails of Enterprise Park that run parallel to the business, had been forcibly removed,” he says.

“RCMP have not yet ruled out the possibility that the suspect or suspects prowled businesses in the area searching for an opportunity to commit their crime.”

He asks that businesses in the area review surveillance camera footage for any suspicious vehicles or people.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Const. Lamont-Paradis of the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Or remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or text your tips to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
