Police say they were called to a home in the Giants Head Road area in Summerland at about 9 p.m., May 15 to check on a distraught man.

The Southeast District Emergency Response Team was called, and with the help of a police crisis negotiator, a 41-year-old man left the home peacefully at about 5 a.m. today, May 16, according to an RCMP media release.

The man was taken to hospital for a medical assessment.
