Hard-working health care employees can get a taste of Italian home cooking with two days of free authentic pasta and meatballs.

The Colombo Lodge and Italian Cultural Centre have committed to serving dinner to hundreds of health care workers from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 12 and May 14.

“We appreciate the frontline workers working in this pandemic… We just want to appreciate them, all of the health care workers and the paramedics,” Roberta Moroni, manager at the Colombo Lodge, says.

Moroni says the Colombo Lodge staff will set up a drive-through station at the lodge, where she expects to hand out between 500 and 600 meals over between the two days.

Paramedics and health care workers can drive through the area and receive their meals in a contact-free manner, with the pasta placed on their car for them to grab.

Moroni says if they haven't done so already, the health care workers must register online with their Interior Health email for the free meal so the cooks can ensure the meals are ready and hot upon pickup. The Colombo Lodge is located at 814 Lorne Street in Kamloops.
