Today is the last day to enjoy the outdoor skating rink at Stuart Park in downtown Kelowna as the city will close it tomorrow morning.
On Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. the Stuart Park outdoor skating rink will be closed for the season, according to a City of Kelowna news release.
The warmer temperatures have made it difficult to maintain.
“We typically like to give more notice about the rink wrapping up for the season, but sometimes it’s just not possible,” Steve Hebden, Recreation Facility Operations supervisor, said in the release.
“It’s been an excellent season of skating down at the rink, but we are at the point where we need to close the ice surface.”
Those who will go take a final lap around the rink are asked to check the live cam on the city's website here before heading towards Stuart Park as milder temperatures can lead to unexpected closures for maintenance.
