Osoyoos RCMP deal with vehicle-related crime

OSOYOOS - Osoyoos RCMP had a weekend full of vehicle-related crimes, varying from car accidents to drug possession.

On Saturday, July 26 a vehicle pulling a boat hit a deer while driving on Highway 3. The car was pushed from the right lane to the left, and another car heading in the fast lane was not able to stop and crashed. No one was injured, however the second car is no longer drivable.

Also on July 26, RCMP stopped a vehicle near Eagle Court and smelled marijuana coming from the car. A search of the car and passengers revealed six grams of dried marijuana. One occupant claimed to have a medical marijuana licence, however it was not valid because it had been issued by a third party, not Health Canada. The drugs were seized by RCMP.

On Sunday July 27 a vehicle drove off the road into an orchard, damaging several trees. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle, but left behind a bumper and licence plate. Police located the vehicle and owner who faces charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and failing to report the accident.

If anyone has information on crimes please call the Osoyoos RCMP at (250) 495-7236 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
