Osoyoos man facing child porn charges

Osoyoos RCMP arrested Shawn Barry Titus, charged with possession of child pornography.

Osoyoos RCMP this week made an arrest related to a child pornography investigation that spanned provincial borders. 

A co-ordinated investigation between Osoyoos RCMP, the Ontario Provincial Police and the B.C. Integrated Child Exploitation Unit resulted in a search warrant executed at a local motel on May 21.

Osoyoos RCMP received information from the B.C. child exploitation unit and the O.P.P. of an internet account based in Osoyoos accessing child pornography. on May 19.

Officers were able to identify the account user over the next couple of days.

Shawn Barry Titus, 37, has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and for failing to comply with a prohibition order.

He is expected to appear in court June 4.

“The teamwork of the agencies mentioned above shows the dedication of police to protecting children from harm and to vigorously pursue those who access, distribute, or create child pornography,” Osoyoos media relations officer Sgt. Jason Bayda said in a press release issued today, June 3.
