An Osoyoos tourist attraction is the latest Okanagan business to garner the attention of Tripadvisor.
The Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad is a recipient of a 2020 Travellers Choice 2020 award from the American online travel company.
“We’re in the top 10 per cent in the world,” owner Poul Pedersen said today, Sept. 22.
Pedersen says the award – which is in the special museums and attractions category – was totally unexpected.
He says there are quite a few model displays around the world, with the biggest in Germany.
“We want to thank all our visitors who took the time to rate us so highly. Without you could not have achieved this highly coveted award,” Pedersen wrote on his Facebook page.
He called it "totally unexpected and totally awesome for a small company in the Okanagan."
The miniature railroad is billed as “the biggest little European railroad in Canada."
Pedersen first opened it to the public in 2003 and has been adding to the attraction each year since then.
The model railway is open every day except Sunday, located at 11611- 115th St. in Osoyoos.
Penticton’s Hoodoo Adventures and The Hooded Merganser Restaurant also won Tripadvisor travellers' choice awards this year.
