PENTICTON - Osoyoos RCMP arrested a repeat offender following a break, enter and theft in the community last week.

Oliver resident Brooks Vandenbroek was arrested following a break-in and theft at Joe’s Plumbing and Heating in Osoyoos on June 18. He was also charged with several other counts of fraud and mail theft, eventually pleading guilty to 18 charges connected to crimes in and around Oliver, Osoyoos and Penticton, according to a release from Osoyoos RCMP.

Vendenbroek was released on a conditional sentence with numerous conditions. Under most circumstances, a breach of conditional sentence order would put the offender behind bars for the remainder of their sentence.

Osoyoos RCMP also dealt with a single vehicle collision involving a deer and a 2013 Honda Accord. A 26 year old female driver from Edmonton, Alberta was driving on Highway 3 approximately three kilometres east of Osoyoos when a deer jumped onto the highway.

The deer was killed in the collision and considerable damage was done to the vehicle. The driver was not injured.
