THOMPSON-OKANAGAN -- Osoyoos and Salmon Arm have both won $25,000 in arena upgrades after being voted into the Top 8 in the West as part of Kraft Hockeyville’s annual contest.
Today is the last day to vote communities into the semi-finals of their East/West divisions. Two communities from the West, and two from the East will be chosen once votes are in, and each will receive an additional $50,000 in arena upgrades. The winner selected from each region wins a grand prize of $100,000 in to improve their local rinks.
Communities submitted stories, photos, videos, blog posts, and tweets to spread the word about their hockey-loving towns. Osoyoos and Salmon Arm are both big hockey towns, with public school academy’s and hockey schools. The prize money would help support their growing hockey communities and provide much needed construction to the old, and very-well used buildings.
Both towns have profiles on the Hockeyville website, where voting is taking place.
