Orchard Park Mall slowly returning to new normal

Orchard Park Mall customers walk past a DavidsTea, which remains closed as of June 18.

After months of an eerily quiet Orchard Park Mall due to COVID-19, stores are finally starting to reopen and starting to return to normal.

Last weekend, a small socially-distanced crowd was gathered at the main entrance waiting for the mall to open.

The majority of stores are open, according to the mall’s website. Hours of operation are still limited from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and operators are asking that customers maintain a distance of at least six feet apart from one another.

Certain stores are also requesting that customers use hand sanitizer prior to entering, such as Best Buy.

A majority of the stores shut their doors in March after social distancing measures were outlined by the province's provincial health officer during the pandemic.

Only 15 stores have yet to reopen, but some have posted tentative opening dates. Fido plans to reopen June 29, Lush is scheduled for June 25 and Michael Hill is scheduled for June 20.

Some stores have not posted reopening dates as of June 18. For a full list of stores that remain closed, visit the mall’s website.
