KAMLOOPS - Operation Red Nose has made sure a lot of people got home safely over the years, and it looks like in 2016 they’ll doing more than ever.

Last weekend, the volunteer driving service provided 350 rides for people who were a little too inebriated to drive themselves, the most rides it has done over a weekend ever, according to a media release.

The service provided 20 rides on Thursday, Dec. 15, but the big numbers came on Friday, Dec. 16 with 146 and Saturday, Dec. 17 at 184.

So far this year more than 950 rides have been provided by Operation Red Nose in Kamloops and the program has raised almost $7,700 for PacificSport Interior B.C.

The city is in first place in the province for number of rides home out of the 12 communities running the program, but has fallen to 16th in the country.

The busiest night of the year, New Year's Eve, is still to come and the service has added Friday, Dec.23 to it’s schedule.

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help out on both nights. Contact Katie Klaassen by phone at 250-320-0650 or email at kklassen@pacificsport.com for more information.
