Those itching to get their skates on and enjoy Kelowna's biggest outdoor rink may be waiting awhile longer.
Skating at the Stuart Park rink will be delayed until further notice in line with the latest direction from provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, according to a City of Kelowna media release.
“This is certainly not how we wanted to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of skating at Stuart Park, but we recognize that these are extraordinary circumstances, and that public health and safety must come first,” Doug Nicholas, Sport and Event Services Manager, said in the release.
“We’ll continue to assess the situation and follow the advice and guidance of health officials and are hopeful that skating at Stuart Park will return this season.”
Although the rink is closed to skating, the holiday tree and festive lights at Stuart Park will continue to be lit throughout December. Residents are welcome to come visit the park, and reminded to to maintain safe distance from others.
