An online fundraiser has been launched after a beloved Kamloops McDonald’s employee is off work following a vehicle accident.

Brandon Headey gained some social media attention for his colourful characters when he took orders through the McDonald’s drive-thru on Notre Dame Drive, to the delight of Kamloops residents.

The 18-year-old has greeted customers with a barrage of accents, including the Flintstones, a Western cowboy, Cinderella’s fairy godmother and more for the last three months.

He recently got into an accident and his car was completely written off. He spent a week in the hospital and required brain surgery to deal with a growing blood clot in his brain following the accident, he said in a prior interview with iNFOnews.

Now, family friends are supporting his recovery with an online fundraiser.

Bonnie Barker and her daughter Karisa Barker created the fundraiser as “he has always been a hardworking and kind kid that deserves some help and support during this time on his road to recovery."

Times right now are hard enough for our youth and this just added to Brandon’s plate of life’s struggles. Although, you will never see him down on his luck as he goes through life greeting people with his contagious smile and silly greetings at our local Mcdonalds . Please help return kindness and support to Brandon just as he has done for all of us,” she wrote in the GoFundMe.

Barker’s son Holten Hoffman-Barker has been a longtime friend of Headey’s, she said.

The GoFundMe was created April 14 and has a goal to raise $4,000. It can be found here.
