KELOWNA - Not only can you call the RCMP to report a crime in the Central Okanagan, now you can reach out online.
Starting today, June 26, residents of Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland and Lake Country can report minor crimes to the RCMP online.
Called the Online Crime Reporting tool, it’s part of a pilot project in B.C. to free up time for frontline police officers to deal with more serious crimes.
RCMP say in a media release the tool can be used to report crimes that do not require a followup by a police officer, have no witnesses or suspects, and involve theft or vandalism valued at less than $5,000. It does not cover cases that involve personal identity, licence plates or firearms.
