One man has died following an accident on the Yellowhead Highway last week.
Barriere RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 5 at the intersection of Vinsulla Ferry Road, Feb. 23 just before 11:30 a.m., according to the RCMP's press release. The crash involved a sedan and a commercial tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer was travelling southbound and swerved in an attempt avoid the sedan, but collided head-on with it. The tractor-trailer then continued on into the west side ditch, according to the Barriere RCMP.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the collision but the driver of the sedan, a man in his 60s, died in the crash. He was alone in the vehicle.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, however road and weather conditions are not believed to be factors in the crash, according to the RCMP.
Anyone with information regarding this collision, including any dashboard camera video of either transport truck prior to the crash or the brown four-door Honda sedan, is asked to contact the Barriere RCMP at 250-672-9918.
