PENTICTON - A Penticton singer will be one more girl to perform with One More Girl at The Barking Parrot this Saturday.

The two-sister singing act, Britt and Carly McKillip of One More Girl and country singer Brett Kissel will be stopping in Peach Town as part of their Young Gun Tour. Also on stage will be Nikita Afonso of Penticton who won an online contest and was awarded the opportunity to perform One More Girl's Love Like Mine with the sisters.

Afonso said she was surprised her version of Love Like Mine got her the top spot over those who became the runners-up, who all got VIP tickets to any of the tour's shows.

Afonso has been listening to One More Girl for a few years and said they played in a recent Penticton Peach Festival, opening up for Toby Keith when he played the South Okanagan Event Centre in 2011.

It was Afonso's parents who clued her in to the contest which she said she was eager to try.

"I was excited to do it. I learned the tune that night and I posted a video the day after," she said. She found out about her win through email and Facebook.

"That was pretty cool to see my name in all capital letters on their Facebook page," she said. The added attention also spiked the number of YouTube views for Afonso's video.

She said this a big opportunity for her but chances like these don't seem to be too rare. Afonso opened for Paul Brandt when he performed at the South Okanagan Event Centre in 2012.

Information on tickets, times and locations can be found at The Barking Parrot.
