Kelowna Mounties have one man in custody as they investigate a possible homicide in the city early this morning.
Police have been on scene at 1210 Sycamore Road in Rutland collecting evidence since 1:30 a.m. today, June 17. Officers could be seen in the backyard of the house.
"Police believe that this incident is isolated in nature, and the victim and the suspect were known to one another," says Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy in a media release.
Neighbour Wayne Peters, who lives on the street, said he heard someone yelling "he's dead" outside of his home early this morning.

He doesn't know the neighbour well but said the RCMP has been to the property on numerous occasions.
"We've kind of kept our distance just because there's been quite a bit of trouble over there at times," Peters said.
He said a couple was living in the home but believes a woman has since moved out.
"As far as I know it was his wife's mother's house and she was letting them live there," he said.

Another neighbour, Laura Garnier, said she is new to the neighbourhood and keeps to herself so she doesn't know the neighbours well but saw multiple police cars outside of her neighbour's house this morning.
Police are at the house once every few months, she said.
"It's a really nice family-oriented neighbourhood, I feel like there's always just that house," she said. "We've never had any issues, everything's been quiet on our end."
No charges have been laid yet while the RCMP's Major Crime Unit investigates.
Police are not releasing the name or any other information about the deceased. Investigators will be on scene for an undetermined period of time to collect evidence and speak to witnesses. The B.C. Coroners Service is also investigating.
No further information is being released at this time, but Kelowna RCMP is urging anyone who witnessed or has knowledge of this crime to come forward and speak with police immediately at 250-762-3300.
